ULNOS leads Region 1 in 14th LHEPC

TUGUEGARAO CITY—In the recently concluded Luzonwide Higher Education Press Conference (LHEPC) last February 5-7, the delegation of ULNOS, the official student publication of Lyceum-Northwestern University (L-NU), proved to be a deadly team when it comes to journalism as they clutched 15 awards, making the university the best performing institution in Region 1.

Pitted against 752 delegates from 200 colleges and universities covering Region 1 to Region 5, with the special participation of Cebu, the said publication went up against the best writers and publications of each region in the different writing disciplines like news writing, editorial writing, opinion writing, photojournalism, feature writing, developmental communications writing, and many more.

The In-Depth Magazine issue of ULNOS was hailed as Luzon’s Best Magazine after bagging 2nd place in News Page, 2nd place in Page Design and Layout, 3rd place in Developmental Communications Page, 5th in Literary Page, 6th place in Features Page, Opinion Page, and Sports Page, and 8th place in Magazine Cover award.

In the tabloid category, ULNOS was awarded as the 4th Best Tabloid in Luzon after clutching 1st place in Developmental Communications Page, 5th place in Sports Page, 6thplace in Opinion Page, 8th place in News Page, and 10th place in Features and Literary Page.

Meanwhile, five members of ULNOS showed their might in the individual category. Features Editor Lois Pasion grabbed gold in Editorial Writing (English); News Editor Julia Pearl Meg Calaunan bagged silver in News Writing (English); Michael Ervin Lomibao secured the 5th spot in the Photojournalism English category; James Dennis Tandoc and Juanito Landicho landed in 10th place in Opinion Writing (Filipino) and Individual Layouting respectively.
